What? Who? Where?
Capestang (car pe stah) is a little village in the Herault District in southern France, 30 minutes from Bezier (bay zay ah) by bus and an hour by car to Carcasonne. Capestang is a lovely little village, with a central square, a few shops (more bakery's than anything else) cafes, restaurants and the Canal du Midi runs right alongside the village. There are plenty of expat English/Irish living here and also here for their summer holidays. The Central Square thing is what I love, everyone comes out at night, sits around socialising, drinking eating and the kids play in a safe friendly environment. This is what we need more of in New Zealand, not bloody carparks and shopping centres! The French lifestyle is to the fore, very casual and low key, no one is in a hurry and life is good. If you get the chance to stay in a small French village do it, it's great!
